Hardy Bros, assorted original Hardy flies, orig. leather case, marked 'A.W.H.' , stickered as from A & F, NY, extensive photos of all flies in their wood trays. There is a list of all flies in the lid of the box, but it has gotten wet at some point and I decided to not open it to avoid damage.

 (Owner: A. W. (Alfred William) Hoyt, an engineer and investor in the Federal Union Mining Company and author of "Over the Plains to Colorado" written in 1867. Hoyt owned a large estate on Long Island "Red Maples" and was married to General William Tecumseh Sherman's niece.)

Oscar Flasher's one-of-a-kind Big Game reel.  Flasher worked at Tycoon Corp, which made Fin-Nor reels.  Unmarked, no numbers. This is a one-only project by Flasher.  Front plate is 7 in., spool is 6 in. rim to rim.

The 722  'Commander Ross' has the rim mounted free spool with a Star drag and shoulder harness attachment, spring ball oiler.  The 721 was discontinued in 1934, and the 722 was made early in only 10/0 and 12/0, and later in 14/0, and 16/0. (M. Duma)

B.F. Meek & Sons, Louisville, Ky., size 10, Big Game reel, 'Tarpon & Tuna' reel, sn. 1089, sold by J.R. Crook & Co., NY, paperwork, orig. leather case with logo 'B.F. Meek & Sons' / size 10 / Louisville, Ky.', sold by name of company that sold the reel.  Paperwork is four sided in color.

Heddon hired William Carter and Jack Welch to develop a line of reels to compete with the Meek reels. In 1917, they introduced their first Carter-built reels. They were the No's 30, 35, 40 and 45. They were available for only a couple of years. The No. 30 was the most costly and is very rare. (R. Gast)

Heddon hired William Carter and Jack Welch to develop a line of reels to compete with the Meek reels. In 1917, they introduced their first Carter-built reels. The great windshield wiper design reels were sold in 1922 as a No. 4-15 and in 1923 and 1924 as a No. 4-18.  (R. Gast)

The first of these trout reels, the #355, a reel with a two-tone clicker mechanism system, that can be activated as additional drag force, with a patent date of 1883, was joined around 1896 by the model  #360, equipped with an "adjustable, automatic silent tension drag" system. To distinguish the two different models, later versions of the #355 were designated as the "Peerless" and #360 became the "Perfection."  (Wikipedia)
